Farewell Poem

We came to college and heard of freedom
Freedom in what? In a few we can fathom:

We can wish what to wear
We can choose what to care
We can think what to spare
And to bunk we can dare

What such freedom meant?
Despite liberty,
Coming to class was an accomplishment!

Having gotten into class
We had to get a pass
But before one could study
He had to please his buddy.

The books we reached somehow
Then thought what to do now?
A few things we knew.
But many things were new
Only for a few days we were at rest
In no time we gathered interest
And strove to do our best
By then we were no longer a guest
To the college we were in.
Whether we carry or not a book or a pen
Gates for us were always open.
We avoided being on fault
But soon, coming late was default.
Truly engaging were the classes we attend
Truly enriching was the time we did spend
Be it with professors or with a friend
And we hope this is not the end.
We did enjoy the lectures here
We aren't saying this with professors' fear
We truly mean - we enjoyed a lot
Teachings, inspirations and counsels we got.
We would awfully miss our classes behind
Though we move ahead in future to find
In real, the fancy of each one's mind,
Similar good times of this kind.

Friends were not a good company
Rather they are so and also will be.
From sharing a penny to getting a punch
We had a good time in having a lunch.
We met in college and outside too
I bet their love is true.

Now, our armchaired listening is over
Active responsibilities hover
And our lives would be a fuss
Without your prayers for us.

We can never complete in speaking about you all
Neither can we write a book and say that's all.
It's time to bid farewell to all
Understanding, how soon
Moments change to memories!
